Clean lakes and healthy shorelines are essential for biodiversity, local communities, and the long-term protection of Transylvania’s natural heritage. Through this project, GREEN LIFE Association is working to assess the current ecological condition of selected lakes and their surrounding areas, with a special focus on pollution, biodiversity, and community involvement.

The project combines scientific research with local participation. Water quality tests help identify pollutants such as microplastics, heavy metals, and organic waste, while biodiversity monitoring examines key species including fish, aquatic plants, and microorganisms. At the same time, interviews and surveys with local communities and stakeholders ensure that restoration strategies are based not only on data, but also on real local needs.
Based on the research findings, the project aims to identify the main sources of pollution, assess their impact on aquatic and shoreline ecosystems, and develop practical recommendations for sustainable lake and shoreline management. These include science-based mitigation strategies, community action plans, clean-up initiatives, and educational campaigns.
By combining scientific data, environmental expertise, and community engagement, this initiative contributes to the protection of vital freshwater ecosystems and helps strengthen local responsibility for nature conservation. The results will support long-term biodiversity protection and sustainable environmental management, ensuring that these natural resources can be preserved for future generations.
